The Sunshine CoastThe Sunshine Coast evokes images of shimmering waters, brightly-coloured kayaks, children's laughter, craft studios, cabins in the woods, outdoor markets, summer festivals, and of course, a slower pace of life than the cities from which so many of our inhabitants migrate. We are located just a short (40 minute) ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay (Vancouver). Gibsons is the first stop along the coastline - a very picturesque hill-town overlooking Keats, Gambier, and the harbour. Roberts Creek is next, a funky community with lots of poets, potters and painters in residence. Sechelt is located approximately half-way up the coast, on a narrow isthmus of land between the Strait of Georgia and Sechelt Inlet. It is home to our local hospital and other good amenities. Further along is Secret Cove, with it's beautiful natural protected moorage facilities and lodges. Madeira Park follows - it is the townsite servicing the Pender Harbour area, an aesthetically gorgeous area of inlets and islets. At the far end of the Sunshine Coast lies Egmont, a small fishing community, where the ferry leaves for Powell River. |
